Pupils using the programmable robot buggies during lunchtime Computing Club

The Friends of Pocklington School committee have had another enjoyable year, supporting the School, holding social events and fundraising for School projects.

We have supported several School events, welcoming guests and serving refreshments, including Open Days, Sports Day, Parents’ Forum and the launch of the Pocklington School Foundation Careers & Business Network. These events are an opportunity to meet prospective families to the School as well as chat to members of the Pocklington School community.

Back in the Michaelmas term, the Christmas Ball proved to be another successful evening.  Friends from across the School community gathered to enjoy each other’s company, laugh, and dance whilst also raising funds for School projects.  The Ball raised funds in excess of £2400 which has been donated to the following projects:

Boarders’ Fireworks

Gardening Club – planting beds, materials and equipment to take part in the Burnby Hall School Gardens' Display

Computing – 5 programmable robot buggies to be used in Computing Club and lessons

The Lectern Society - a lectern for the Debating Society and other School events

Strength and Conditioning – resistance bands for use in S&C training, circuit training and PE

Lower School pupils in Gardening Club present their garden design at the Burnby Hall Gardens School Gardens display

The FOPS committee are delighted to have been able to support these School projects which could not have been achieved without the support of the Pocklington School community, who all become members of FOPS when they join the School. Support has been given in many different forms, be it attendance at events, or the gift of time, services or skills. Please know how valuable your support is and how much you can make a difference to those who benefit from it – our pupils.

Looking ahead to next term, the Christmas Ball will be held on Saturday 8 December at The Principal Hotel York.  Further information will be available next term, so do pop it in your diary!

We hope you all have a lovely summer break and look forward to meeting you at events next term!  If you would like more information about how to get involved in the FOPS committee, please email friends@pocklingtonschool.com or visit the Friends of Pocklington School webpage on the school website.
