Students competing on the track

Pocklington School Sports Day on Saturday 30 June was held in glorious sunshine, with just enough wind to cool the athletes down.

Families arrived on the school field, to sit down and enjoy the afternoon’s sporting event which was organised by Mr Spruyt.  The audience were well looked after by the South Africa Sports Tour refreshments stall, who sold cool refreshments and cream teas.  The Friends of Pocklington School Committee also attended, helping raise funds for one of the School’s chosen charities – WaterAid – by selling plants grown by the Lower School Gardening Club.

Mr Spruyt, teacher i/c athletics said: ”The atmosphere was excellent and the standard of athletics was probably the best for a number of years. This resulted in a large number of Sports Day and School records being set, which is a testament to the amount of hard work that a number of students have invested into athletics this term.”

This year, Dolman House were named the overall winner of the Champions Cup and were very proud to receive their trophy. Well done to all the participants from all four houses for a great day of competitive athletics.
