Last week, Year 6 pupils at Pocklington Prep School were pleased to welcome a practitioner from The Young Shakespeare Company, based in London.
During the two hour workshop, the pupils were helped to explore and retell the story of 'Macbeth', using Shakespearian language, drama and interactive activities.
The storyteller from the Young Shakespeare Company brought to life the dramatic story of 'Macbeth' among the audience. The children were actively involved in the play and volunteered to become individual characters in the story. All the children had the opportunity to speak and enjoy Shakespeare’s words in short, accessible sections.
Mrs Hughes, Year 6 teacher at Pocklington Prep School said: “We were lucky to have a practitioner from such a renowned theatre company travel so far to spend the day with us and provide such a valuable learning experience for our children.”
She continued: “The creative and interactive nature of the workshop brought the story of 'Macbeth' to life for the pupils and left them eager to learn the next part of the Shakespeare play. It was a pleasure to see them having so much fun and will hopefully help them in their future studies.”
The Year 6 pupils would like to thank the team from The Young Shakespeare Company for travelling from London to work with them and for providing such an inspiring platform to help them as they continue their study of 'Macbeth' in the classroom.
