In June this year it was announced that, Lincoln & York, the leading, coffee sourcing, roasting and packing specialist had topped the Sunday Times International Track 200 awards, having achieved a staggering 265% increase in sales.

OP and coffee buyer, James Sweeting (81-88), and coffee trader Simon Herring founded their business Lincoln & York in January 1994. Today, over 20 years on, almost 19,000 coffee shop outlets exist in the UK and Lincoln & York has grown into a 6,000m2 state-of-the-art facility, selling to both the UK and international markets.

In September, James Sweeting and Head of Finance, Nigel Bean, attended the 9th annual awards ceremony at the glamourous London Hilton on Park Lane to collect the award which recognises Britain’s private companies with the fastest-growing international sales.

The award was presented by Amanda Murphy of HSBC UK Business, after inspirational guest speakers Carol Kane from Boohoo.com and Steve Hewitt, CEO of Gymshark,

In his acceptance speech, proudly sporting his Old Pocklingtonian tie, James was happy to give away his secret to success saying: “Identify the winners in the market and laser in on them”. This is not a bad tactic considering the company Lincoln & York found themselves in, with global names such as Aston Martin and Rapha also accepting awards on the day.

Congratulations on this fantastic achievement!
