Three children playing in trees at the award winning Williams' Den family visitor attractionWilliam’s Den, the family attraction in North Cave, East Yorkshire which was created by OP Tor Carver (née Sweeting, 88-90) and her husband, Christian, has been crowned Britain’s Most Outstanding Rural Diversification Project at the UK-wide Rural Business Awards.

Set in the rolling countryside of North Cave on the edge of the Wolds, William’s Den is a timber-framed indoor and outdoor playscape offering traditional activities from den-building and rope-walking to messy mud pie making.

The attraction which opened in July 2017, proved to be an immediate hit, welcoming over 10,000 visitors in the first month of opening and gaining rave reviews in both the local and national press.

Since then the business has gone from strength to strength. The success of the project has now been recognised with the award which was announced at a glittering ceremony held at Chateau Impney in Worcestershire.

William’s Den owner, Tor commented: “We are over the moon to have won the National Rural Business Award for Outstanding Rural Diversification Project.

“In creating William’s Den, we aimed to diversify in a way which would benefit the landscape, the environment, and the community, and we are so proud of the results.”
