Physics teacher David Hutchings shared his insights into science’s relationship with the Christian faith with visitors to the New Scientist Live festival in London.

Mr Hutchings was invited to attend the award-winning four-day festival of talks and presentations as one of 120 speakers and 100 exhibitors contributing to the debate about science and why it matters.

He entertained many of the thousands of visitors to the festival, held at the ExCel London convention centre in September, with experiments, demonstrations and conversations relating to Let There Be Science: Why God loves science, and science needs God, the book he co-wrote with Professor Tom McLeish.

Mr Hutchings said: “I was delighted to be asked to New Scientist Live because it’s packed with thought-provoking talks, ground-breaking discoveries and interactive experiences. It was great chatting to the many visitors, my book sold out – and I’ve been invited back next year!”

Mr Hutchings and Professor McLeish are giving a talk based on their book at the Tom Stoppard Theatre on Thursday 11th October. They will address questions including why science thrives alongside the Christian faith and why so many great scientists past and present attribute their motivation and discoveries, at least partially, to their Christian beliefs.

The event is free to attend and open to all but tickets are limited and being allocated on a first come, first served basis. To book, email boxoffice@pocklingtonschool.com, call 01759 321200 or visit www.trybooking.co.uk/3905
