Pocklington School senior pupils delivered a range of engaging and diverse speeches on the topic of 'Small Great Things' last Friday evening. We were delighted to hear from pupils in Fifth Year, Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth, all of whom spoke with passion and conviction on their chosen theme.

From a pen to the value of music, from the bicycle to a single coffee bean, the speakers made their audience think deeply about the importance of seemingly insignificant things. Congratulations to all involved: Maddie Hourigan, Afonso Spencer, Noah Parkinson, Ellie Harrison, Izzie Watson, Hebe Quinney, Millie Addinall, James Charlton-Harrison and Henry Kay.

In the end, our judges awarded prizes to Ellie, Maddie and Henry - a difficult decision to make! Many thanks to Mrs Barham, Mrs Saunders and Mr Hall for putting their heads together and to Mrs Wilson for timing the speeches.

Thanks go to the Headmaster, Mark Ronan and his wife Fiona, for hosting this event once more.
