Natural sciences student, James Laudage (06-17), was part of a triumphant St John’s team in the inter-college final of the rugby Cuppers held on 28 April 2018 in Cambridge.

According to the match report in the Cambridge Independent , front row power play helped St John’s College to a 35-13 win over Queens’ College for their fourth Cambridge University Rugby Football Union Cuppers victory in five years.

Their opponents, Queens’ were playing in their first Cuppers final since 1985 and benefited from the experience of two Cambridge Blues in their squad.

Queen’s fought hard, but despite their solid defence and dogged determination were unable to contain sustained pressure from St John’s who eventually claimed a comfortable victory forged through their impressive forwards.

James, who plays at flanker commented: “It was an honour to be a part of the team and there was a fantastic atmosphere. It was great to get the win.”
