The Charity Team were pleased to welcome speakers from our chosen charities for 2023 to talk to students about fundraising and how they utilise the monies raised over the course of the year.
Dolman House welcomed Bob Taylor from the RNLI (our national charity) who gave an inspiring talk about the work the lifeboats do around the UK. The students were pleased to put on their RNLI pin badges that he gave out at the end of the session.
Gruggen House welcomed Michelle Ford from Martin House Children's Hospice (our local charity), a charity close to a lot of Gruggeners' hearts, pupils were interested to hear how much it costs to run their fabulous centre per day, week and year.
Hutton House had an inspiring talk from John Miles of the International Medical Corps. He made the journey up from London to talk to students about the work they did as part of their International Charity choice this year.
Finally, Wilberforce House welcomed Yorkshire Swan and Wildlife Rescue. Dan Sidley was recommended to the House by Mrs Tomlinson and certainly gave the students plenty to think about in terms of their fundraising going forward.
Charity Week will take place from Monday 27th March to Thursday 30th March, with some old favourites like staff gunging which are returning along with some new ideas coming through from the Sixth Form Charity Team.
