Pocklington School recently hosted a reception and exhibition to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the opening of the Art and Design Technology Centre (ADTC).
Staff, governors, life patrons, former and present pupils and parents joined supporters of the ADTC to enjoy drinks and canapes in the Howden Room, before viewing work from pupils from First Year to GCSE and A level, with fine art, photography, and design technology pieces all on display.
Toby Seth, Headmaster, commented “The Art and Design Technology Centre has transformed the educational landscape of Pocklington School. Our students now possess an unparalleled space where their artistic dreams can come to life. This journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support and vision of our donors.
Over the past five years, the ADTC has become one of the key spaces in School, and we were delighted to invite donors to view the art and design work on display here.
Philanthropy is at the heart of Pocklington School, and we are immensely proud of the partnership with our donors, which was exemplified in the design and build of our Art and Design Technology Centre.”
Simon Mitchell, of Simon Mitchell Associates, the architect for the project, attended the reception and said “Designing the ADTC was a very enjoyable experience. We aimed to create an environment that celebrates imagination, challenges conventional thinking, and fosters the emergence of talent. Visiting the Centre to see art in action has been a very moving experience.”
The generosity of donors has played a significant role in the creation and continued success of the ADTC. One donor commented “Investing in Pocklington School’s artistic vision has been a joy. We firmly believe in the power of nurturing young minds, inspiring them to discover their potential. Witnessing the incredible artworks on display tonight, we are proud that our small contribution has had such a profound impact.”
Jenny Preston, Development Officer, said “Partnership working is at the heart of the schools’ values. Whether it is investment in capital projects or support of the Shape the Future bursary programme, there are numerous ways that our community can continue to invest in ensuring that Pocklington School provides academic and co-curricular excellence for many years to come.”
