The Pocklington School U14 Girls' team

A team of four Pocklington School U14 girls participated in the Chapman Cup at Queen Mary's School on Saturday 28 April.

Playing in A and B Leagues, Jess, Izzy, Emma and Amy, put up strong opposition against St Peter's School, Queen Margaret's School, Ampleforth College, Ashville College and Queen Mary's School.

Jess and Izzy did extremely well to win their final doubles match and two singles rubbers in the A League. In the B League, following a series of singles and doubles wins, we were delighted to see Emma and Amy claim third place overall.

Miss Lamb, teacher of English at Pocklington School said: “All four girls showed tremendous spirit and demonstrated excellent teamwork throughout. They were a pleasure to be with and great ambassadors for girls' tennis at Pocklington School.”

On Wednesday last week members of the senior girls’ tennis team, Cordie, Bryony, Alice and Millie, beat Ampleforth College in the second round of the Team Tennis National Championships.  They are now through to the third round which will take place this Wednesday, in Cumbria.
