Last year’s runners up, competing under the team name OP’have, were this year’s winners of the Tom Nash President’s Cup in the annual Pocklingtonian Golf Day at The Oaks on Friday 23 June 2017.

The event was well supported this year with fifteen teams taking part. Players included current and former parents, staff and OPs and for the fifth year running, family-run car dealership SG Petch sponsored the hole in one competition to win a Fiat 500. This added an extra dimension of competitiveness and fun to the event, but despite everyone’s best efforts, the car was returned to the garage for another year!

Here are the results of the main competition:

1st Prize and The Tom Nash President’s Cup Winners 2017: OP’have – Henry Laverack (03-10), Isaac Green (09-11), James Bisson (04-12), Peter Massie (00-10)

2nd Prize: Sweeting Bros – Daniel Sweeting, Richard Falkingham, Nick Cowling, Adam Verney (85-92)

3rd Prize: Warrendale Farm – James Thornton, Dave Lockwood, Richard Bloom, Jack Oxtoby

There were also prizes for nearest the pin, nearest the pin in two and the longest drive.  The winners were as follows:

The course at The Oaks was in excellent condition with top class greens. Everyone enjoyed their rounds and after a hearty supper in the club house, Martin Butcher spoke on behalf of the Headmaster who was unable to attend due to a prior committment. Martin thanked everyone involved in putting on the event, including the Nutt family for hosting, SG Petch for sponsoring, Rachel and Leanne for organising and finally the teams for taking part. OP Vice-President, James Sweeting (80-88), presented the prizes and announced OP’have as the 2017 winners of the President’s Cup.

The date for the 7th Annual Pocklingtonian Golf Day in 2017 will be announced shortly.  In the meantime, please help to spread the word!
